Chester based artist Tiggy White has been working with and developing her form of Non-objective art for many years; after studying History of Art and Studio Practice at BA and MA levels. Taking inspiration from a variety of twentieth century artists from Kasimir Malevich and Yves Klein to Matisse and Gary Hume; Tiggy’s intention is to work with the negative space of the canvas against singular intense primary colours to symbolize dynamic energy.
The recent # Series was created during lockdown in 2020 and focused on releasing feelings of being trapped inside a four-walled space; using masked areas of the canvas first to create the initial design; then adding multi-layered primary colour painting to create energy in these void spaces. The use of masking is like painting; but in many ways creates unique rugged edges and fractions when it is removed.
All of Tiggy’s works are painted on box canvases; alleviating the need for framing and can be hung in any way; making the owner of each work choose how they want to live with the painting.
